Blank startup with 2.21.0, on Mac

I’ve recently started a new machine, did a fresh install and Fontbase initially started up when I installed it. I ported across fonts from my previous machine, stored in iCloud. It was working fine.

A few days later, I’m opening Fontbase, and the app flashes as a running app on the mac dock, but then disappears, if I try to open it again after that, it stays in the dock, but no windows open up.

Hello @sofserif, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
This is definitely not normal, hm.
In trying to understand what is going on:

  1. Is FontBase itself is installed on a local hard drive?
  2. Where is the Root folder located?
  3. How did you add the iCloud fonts - as regular or watched folders?

Thank you again,

  1. Yes it’s installed on my local drive
  2. Root folder is whatever was installed by the default installer (I haven’t changed anything)
  3. The iCloud fonts were watched folders, I’ve since added the fonts directly to Users> [My Login Name] > Fontbase, but it still won’t start.

Thank you for the quick reply and the additional information
Would it be possible to try to:

  1. uninstall FontBase;
  2. reset the settings following this guide Reset Settings — FontBase Tutorials
  3. install FontBase again and see if that would help?

Thank you again,

Thank you! It seems like we’re back in the room.
Did we just do “have you tried turning it off and on again?”

Thank you for the quick reply and glad everything’s working properly now
A more in-depth version, but in a way, yes, that’s what we did:) Nothing wrong with starting with this basic step:)
