Fonts not loading

Mac OS Senoma 14.5
Fontbase 2.20.7

When I activate a font it fails to be active in any Adobe CS software. I have reinstalled and deleted Fontbase but that’s not helped at all. I really have no idea what else to do.

Hello @aarenson, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
Does this happen to both pre-loaded Google fonts and the ones you add into FontBase yourself?
Are activated fonts recognised by other software (e.g. text editors)?
Thank you again,

Hi Yuriy,

This happens with Google and my own fonts that I add. I was running a different font manager previously called TypeFace App but I made sure to uninstall everything thoroughly. I have no clue why FontBase isn’t working.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the additional information

Need to understand if this is a FontBase issue or an Adobe one
Thank you again,
Yuriy

I just activated a Google font then opened TextEdit and the font isn’t selectable so it seems to be OS wide. Thanks

This really helps, thank you
For now it looks like something’s blocking FontBase from working properly.
Any anti-virus software or read/write permission limitations that could influence this that you are aware of? Especially if it’s a work computer or a part of a network with administration by someone other than yourself?
Thank you again,

it is a work computer but we don’t run antivirus software, just out the box mac set up with Adobe CS etc. I’m not aware of any read/write permissions specifically. If you could point me in the direction I’ll check and screengrab anything that needs to be inspected.
Thanks

Thank you for the additional information
Do you have full control of the computer, or are there separate admin (for the system administrator perhaps) and user (your) accounts?
Thank you again,

I’m the admin with full control. No other system admins or security software running.

Thank you
While looking for a solution I came across this post

Would it be possible for you to try it and see if that would make a difference?
Thank you again,

Thanks Yuriy, I am on a mac. I’ve opened the file permissions and the font folder is set to read and write. Have a look at the attached screenshots and see if you can spot anything wrong. Thanks

Thank you for the screenshots
The permissions seem to be ok
The font list in the second screenshot - is that internal to the text editing app you have opened right behind it? I.e. does it pop up when you click “Helvetica” just below the close-minimise-maximise buttons in the text editor?

Yes the font list is the pop-out list which is part of TextEdit’s UI. I wanted you to see that the two Google fonts which are activated are not appearing in the font list within a non-Adobe programme.

I see, thank you
This is extremely odd.
Does it make a difference whether the text editor is opened before fonts are activated or after that?
