Adobe Apps no auto activation?

Can I confirm that even with the latest updates of both Fontbase and Adobe CC Illustratror, Indesign and Photoshop, there is no auto-activation anymore? Fontbase 2.21.0 and Illustrator 29.4 Indesign 20.2 and Photoshop 26.5 on MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2. Is there a timeline to get this fixed with fontbase? Right now I have resorted to finding fonts and activating them manually in Fontbase app.

Kindest regards,
Chris

Hello Chris, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
If I may - has auto-activation worked properly and then stopped after the updates?

Thank you again,

Yes it is only recently that I have noticed this situation. The only thing I can think of changed is I have recently updated the Adobe Apps.

Chris

Thank you for the quick update Chris
Have you perhaps already had the chance to remove and re-install the FontBase plugins to see if that would help?

Thank you again,

hy Yuri, same problem here but only with Illustrator
Removed then reinstalled the plug-in, forced an older plug-in in the 2025 plugin folder, nothing, also reinstalled fontbase

In photoshop and indesign works no problem, only illustrator and as I have it installed on 2 machines (1 in italian - that gives problems and 1 in English - no problem)
Ahh also in the preferences panel I’ve tried to add another plugin folder and installed fontbase plugin in there, nothing. All my other plugins (Astute) work

I think I’ll reinstall illustrator as fast as I can.

Thanks

I confirm that not even reinstalling illustrator works, deleted preferences also. I’m stuck, if there is a way of sending you some analytics and see where the problem is, let me know

Thank you for the additional investigation @deepinart
Your mention of an Illustrator-only issue reminded me of a topic recently discussed here on the forum: Problem auto-activating Illustrator 29.3.1 on Mac (Intel)
Would it be possible for you to try the workaround mentioned in the initial message there and see if that would make a difference? This would really help in trying to understand if the cause of the issue is the same.

Thank you again,

It doesn’t seem to work, tried Illustrator CC with and without pdf compatibility, Illustrator 2020 with and without compatibility.

Here we are on Windows 11 Machines and as I’ve told you it seems that only on the italian machine, the english one works just fine even same font repository (clones trough NAS and same Files cloned trough NAS)

Hope it helps

I’ve managed to resolve it, uninstalled fontbase and deleted all the references I could find, in AppData, in Program files in windows registry etc.

Reinstalled it and works, now I must only reimport my collection, hope I’ve managed to back-it up accordingly

Thank you for the quick reply and the additional info @deepinart
Yes, I did understand that this only seems to happen on the Italian language installation.
And thank you for the great news that it’s working now
Please keep us posted about whether the situation reoccurs, still can’t be 100% sure that the system language was the cause of this behaviour.

Thank you again,

UPDATE: Stopped working on the EN version of illustrator.
I’ll reinstall it as soon as I can, anyway seems that some illustrator update makes it crash.

Anyway I’ll let you know if fresh reinstall resolves it.

seen the problem and that it persist if registry entries are not manually deleted, can you provide an update with some kind of “fresh install” option? that cleans everything before installing? even if it will “need a restart” (something like the nvidia drivers) or a fully remove tool like “display driver uninstaller”

Thank you for the quick reply and the update @deepinart
At the moment I’m afraid the shortest way to do this would be to:

  • uninstall FontBase
  • reset the settings (more on this here Reset Settings — FontBase Tutorials)
  • manually search the registry for anything possibly left, clean the relevant keys if so, via Windows tools or a third-party application of your choice;
  • re-install FontBase.
Will think of a way to make this as close to a single-click process as possible, but sorry to say this is not an available option at the moment :pensive:

Thank you again,

confirming that uninstalling, “reset Settings”, deleting the program files folder and all the registry keys resolved the English version also

Hope it can help others. Alin
