All preferences/catalogs/likes etc. vanished on re-installation to FB version 2026.4.1

Hi there,
Currently, I am using Windows 11 Version 24H2.
I was having issues with a previous version of FontBase (version ??) not loading—the icon in the startup bar continually showed the popup ‘starting…’ when I hovered over it. To solve this, I thought it a reasonable idea to manually download and install the latest Windows version 2026.4.1 . The new version now opens as expected, however all my previous collections, folders, watched folders, favourites etc. are gone. I can’t express how frustrating this is as I’ve curated these collections over the last 4 years. I don’t believe I changed any of the installation settings from previously, thinking that the database information would simply be picked up from the same folders as before.
Is there any advice as to how I might find and reconnect my old preferences?

Hello @ElRobboz, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum :folded_hands:
If you’ve just installed the newer version and did not delete the settings folder, then the old database and settings should have been transferred automatically. Are you sure the options such as installation location as well as who the app was installed for (current user/all users) were kept exactly the same as during the previous installation? The situation you’re describing sounds like the app was installed for all users initially, but for the current user in the most recent case, or vice versa.

Thank you again,

Hi Yuiry and thank you for your response.
Whilst I set up the original account many years back, my usual choice for account selection is only my own as this is my private computer. I am confident that the installation location is the same. In this situation, I cannot confidently say that my decisions 4 years ago were 100% the same, but it is unlikely that they are different. Should they have been different, is there a way to recover the original customised files?

Thank you for the quick response :folded_hands:
As an option, you could try uninstalling FontBase and re-installing it, picking the opposite of what you’ve used the previous time (install for current user vs all users). Uninstalling or reinstalling FontBase does not delete or alter the settings folder, and never did as far as I know.

Thank you again,

Thank you, yuriy.
I tried several variations of this, including default installation folders vs. custom ones, but the old preferences and customisations aren’t being found, if they still exist.
