Can the default not be “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” or text in the list in settings ? The letter “A” is not useful
Hello John, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum ![]()
If the default would be neither of the listed options, what could it be then? Given that the list presets in the Settings page can be edited
Thank you again,
“A” is the default - it is not listed in the “sample Text” in settings. How do i change the default please?
Thank you for the quick reply ![]()
So you mean the default value for the Grid view mode, understood, thank you ![]()
At the moment the default text at startup is set to the "A"s you’ve mentioned I’m afraid. Any changes you make will persist until you close FontBase though. So, if possible, keeping the application open could be somewhat of a workaround (at least until closing it before system shutdown). FontBase can also be hidden to system tray using the respective toggle in the Settings page for your convenience.
Thank you again,
May i ask, just to clarify:
When opening the app, the starting text sample is “A”. Is this just standard? Because i thought i did something to make it do this. As i read your answer, this is just the way it is and there is no way to change it? I do not mind if its the “The quick Brown…”, I would prefere if it was the font name instead, but rather “The quick brown..” than just the a.
But the “A” is the standars? Is that correct?
Hello Natasja, thank you for your post ![]()
That is correct, yes.
Thank you again,

Hello @azib, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum ![]()
For now the default for the Grid view is the “a” as mentioned in the discussion above.
Thank you again,
