Hello Rob, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
What do you mean by central in general?
Thank you again,
hi @yuriy basically i want all clients to access fonts from a central storage location ie on a share server so they all can have the same fonts to use
Thank you for the quick reply @robertkwild
Placing the Root folder on a network drive should do the trick, but the convenience will depend heavily on the system setup and network uptime. Some things related to this are also mentioned in our FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions — FontBase Tutorials
Thank you again,
thanks @yuriy i should had mentioned were going to install the client on about 20+ machines and then on the client change the “root folder” as you mentioned to the network share, will this work
It should work with that setup, yes
thanks @yuriy so am i right in thinking you save all your fonts to the “root folder” so it holds a massive catalogue of fonts and clients can then download save them to there system font folder ie C:\Windows\Fonts or mac linux equivalant
If clients have the ability to reach a network location and download font into their respective system fonts folders, thereby effectively installing it, then there should be no problem whatsoever Is that correct?
You could always use a system such as Nextcloud or something similar to host your fonts and then any font they access will be on the system. While very similar to a network location, it does have the benefit of keeping a copy of the files you access available offline.
Just thought I would throw this out there as it is what I do.
