Closing Fontbase Deletes all Installed Fonts

I have more than 17000 fonts that I have saved on an external sd card that I have assigned a drive letter. i have linked my library to that drive, and it has always worked before. Now every time I close fontbase or shut down the computer…all installed fonts disappear (even though it still shows the library is connected to the X: drive that I assigned it to). Then even after installing all fonts… it is so slow, and it just keeps spinning while trying to search for a font to activate. Please help!!

Please include the flowing when reporting a bug:

  • Windows 11 Home
  • Operating system version: 22000.527
  • FontBase version: 2.16.9
  • What actions caused the issue…closing…and reopening
  • If possible, attach a screenshot

Hello @kimberlypek, welcome to the forum, thank you for the post and sorry for the delay in replying.
When you say installed fonts disappear, do you mean they cannot be used in the system anymore but the files themselves stay, or do the font files themselves disappear?
Also, when you say library is connected to the X: drive, what do you mean by library?
As for spinning, it’s possible that you have your fonts active when FontBase is running, then when you turn it off the fonts are automatically deactivated (as is the design). Then when you start FontBase back up it tries to re-activate all the fonts that were left active during the previous session. If it’s 17+k fonts then it might produce a considerable lag between when the application started working and when the fonts themselves are activated to be used.
Hope this helps,
Yuriy

Hi! Thank you for the quick reply. All fonts that are in fontbase folder, are not listed in fontbase at all. Shows I only have 3000 fonts when i usually have about 20000.
