Font styles not showing after import

Hello, I have a list of fonts that I’ve added to fontbase, but their respective styles don’t get imported.

For example… I import:

Font Regular.ttf
Font Bold.ttf
Font Italic.ttf

In fontabse, it will just appear as

Font
Font
Font

When using this font in Illustrator, I only have one font of that kind. It’s as if it doesn’t see the others that are imported.

Is this something to do with the font file metadata? how can I fix that?

Thanks

Hello @rostance, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
Will try to figure out what’s going on and how to fix this.
As for metadata - not sure from the information we have. Could you please attach a screen of FontBase displaying the fonts in question? Both the main list view and the Family Page view if possible.

Thanks Yuriv, I appreciate the quick reply!

For some reason it won’t let me attach media to the post. I’ve put a link to a combined screenshot below…

Here are how the fonts look on disk, then how it appears in Fontbase, then in Illustrator, only two instances of the font appears, with no variable styles present in the dropdown…

Hope you can help!

Thanks

Thank you for the quick reply @rostance
Hm, it’s odd indeed the subfamily is not displayed in the Family Page
Have you perhaps already had the chance to remove these fonts from FontBase and re-add them to see if that would help?
Would you mind sharing what FontBase and OS versions are you using? Can help in better understanding where the cause of this behaviour may lie.
I also see from the screenshot that these fonts are not activated in FontBase. Do you still see only one style if you activate all the fonts in the screenshot?

Thanks Yuriy,

Yeah I had tried this a few times, no luck unfortunately.

Yes sure, it’s v2.20.7 on Windows 11.

I also see from the screenshot that these fonts are not activated in FontBase. Do you still see only one style if you activate all the fonts in the screenshot?

Yes this screenshot was just taken as I was testing removing/re-adding the fonts. When all the fonts are activated, only two styles appear in Illustrator and the rest are not visible.

Cheers,

Thank you for the additional information @rostance
Are these regular or variable font files?
Also, would it be possible to update FontBase to its latest version by downloading it from our website FontBase — Download for Windows and see if the issue would still persist?

Thank you again,
