I’m a newbie regarding FB (=FontBase).
I am a FontExpert pro user. There is a simple option that you can add your fonts folder as a link to the app, and just preview the fonts and temporarily/permanently activate/deactivate them.
But in FontBase, you have to add your fonts folder into FB, then the app adds a copy of that folder into their database folder. It means there is a duplicate folder of my main fonts folder (about 500 MB).
Is there a way to just address my fonts folder and Fontbase shows, and let me organise the fonts (activate/deactivate) just by the address, not by adding an extra copy of my fonts folder?
Hello Omiki, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
Yup, it’s totally possible, just need to add the desired folder as a Watched folder (Click the Add button at the bottom left of the main screen, then “Watched folder”)
Our website’s Learn section and our Youtube channel may contain some more tips you might find useful
Thank you again,
Thanks.
As I noticed by adding my fonts folder as the Watched folder in FontBase, it makes a shortcut (from my main fonts folder) in the FontBase settings folder. This shortcut has the same size as my fonts folder. Just to know, is this shortcut a hard link (the size is fake, and my fonts folder isn’t duplicated in any FontBase folders)?
Thank you for the quick reply, Omiki
That is a link, you are correct.
Thank you again,
Many thanks
FontBase is simpler than FontExpert, but has two features that aren’t there in FontExpert!
I’m wondering how he hasn’t implemented these two features in his app (FontExpert is a beast in its class). I am in touch with the author (FontExpert author), and I have asked him, but he hasn’t added it yet!
Your app is a simple font manager with basic, powerful features.
