Fontbase Hasn't Been Auto-Updating

I just realized that I’m on a VERY old version of FB; 2.22.48.

I do have the Auto Update feature enabled and just noticed on subsequent shutdown and restart of the program that it says “Could not download update”. That was supposed to have been fixed in the version that I got stuck on.

Am I just supposed to download the most recent version and install over the existing directory? Will I loose any configuration options (i.e Collections)?

Could we not get an “update is a avilable - update now” option under the “?” bubble like all other programs. It’d be very helpful in situations like these.

— EDIT —

It won’t even let me install the newest version because I’m getting the following:

“FontBase cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click Retry to continue.”

Which… I had already used the “Quit” option on the program and checked the Task Manager and couldn’t see anything FontBase related running…

Clicking “Retry” results in…

“Failed to uninstall old application files. Please try running the installer again.: 2”

Hello @syrehn, thank you for your post and welcome back to the forum :folded_hands:
Does the issue still persist after a system reboot?

Thank you again,

Yes. The issue persists after rebooting. It’s a real pain in the butt. I’d just like to get on to the newest version… no idea why it stopped auto-updating despite it being set to.

Hello @syrehn, thank you for your reply :folded_hands:
Could you please check if you have the “Start on system start” option enabled in the Settings page? If so, please try to disable it, reboot the computer and try to install the app again.

Thank you again,

Hey Yuriy,

So I tried this on several occasions, today being the most recent. Even when the app is NOT set to start on system start, I was still getting the error after each subsequent reboot.

The ONLY way I managed to fix it today was by running the installer in Admin mode and then it finally worked. I’m not sure if that’s going to cause problems for updates though?

Hello @syrehn, thank you for your reply and the additional information :folded_hands:
There shouldn’t be any problems with updates due to this.

Thank you again,
