Fontbase opens when opened but I don't have access to the application

Hello,

I installed FontBase on Thursday, April 2nd . After importing my fonts, everything worked fine at first. I enabled the option to open FontBase automatically at login, but since then, I’ve been experiencing issues.

The application opens briefly and then closes on its own. When I try to reopen it, I can’t access my fonts. I’ve searched your forum for solutions, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and restarted my computer—nothing has worked.

I also tried opening FontBase manually by right-clicking on the application in Applications > FontBase > Show Package Contents. The app opens, but my fonts are only displayed as squares and crosses. I receive the following error message:

“Could not access root folder.”*

I’m unable to find a solution. Could you please help me resolve this issue?

System Details:

  • Operating System: macOS Sequoia 15.7.3
  • FontBase Version: 2026.3.0 (2026.3.0)

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Seems like the app does not have access to your main font storage location for some reason. What is your root folder setting (in FontBase settings - three dots icon on the left side of the window).

Thank you. I solved the problem right after asking for help. Thanks for your reply.
