Fonts Not Appearing in InDesign 2025 Despite Being Activated in FontBase

Hi, I’m new to using FontBase and InDesign, so I hope this isn’t a silly question. I have all my fonts activated in FontBase to test them, but when I open InDesign, only a few of them appear. I can’t figure out why. Even though all my fonts are installed and synced, they don’t show up in InDesign. I’ve checked and my synchronization is up to date. Could anyone help me figure out what might be wrong? Sorry if it’s a simple issue, but I’m really stuck. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello @mycutecorner, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
A question, if I may, to better understand what’s going on - is FontBase open when you’re launching InDesign?

Thank you again,

Yes is open, the fonts active are only eleven but in the indesign I can see a lot of fonts

Thank you for the additional information
I see now. FontBase’s “Active” collections only shows fonts activated in FontBase, which does not include the fonts pre-installed on the OS or any other fonts installed manually via a file explorer or other methods.
From this last message it seems like the current situation is the opposite of what you’ve described in the initial post - is that correct?

Thank you again,

This happens for me, although I am using the free version and don’t have access to any plugins. All activated fonts will work in Illustrator, but many will not show up in InDesign. I tried uninstalling and re-installing InDesign, but that didn’t help. My coworker, who also has the free version, has no issues with fonts syncing to InDesign, so I’m not sure what’s going on with my FontBase.

Hello @whchurch, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
Subscription only influences plugins in this case, activated font visibility in CC apps is the same
Does your coworker have the same InDesign app version as you do?

Thank you again,

@yuriy they are using the same version as me (InDesign 2025)

Thank you for the quick reply @whchurch
Do the fonts missing in InDesign show up in other applications?
Also, are the specific InDesign versions the same? You can usually check the version by navigating to “Help” → “About InDesign…” in the main application window.

Thank you again,

@yuriy the missing fonts appear for me on Illustrator and Photoshop, but not InDesign. Unfortunately, my coworker is off on vacation all week, so I won’t be able to check on their specific InDesign version, but mine is 20.2.

Thank you for confirming the font availability @whchurch
If fonts are displayed in other applications, then, at least for now, it appears to be the issue on the side of InDesign, since FontBase has the same activation approach regardless of the application that uses the activated fonts
How about other applications outside of the CC app suite?

Thank you again,

I checked Word and the trouble fonts work there. But in an exciting turn of events, the fonts I had issues with are now working in InDesign. I’m not sure what changed, but for now, everything is working as it should. As you said, it must be something with InDesign specifically and I will reach out to Adobe’s support team if the issue returns.

Thank you @yuriy for your help!

Happy to hear the issue is resolved, hopefully it will stay that way:)
Always glad to help, and thank you again for reaching out
