Google Variable Fonts Bug when Font has Variable and Static Files

Activating variable fonts doesn’t work properly in Fontbase when the family has both static and variable font files for the font family. See screenshot of Inter below:

Per the Google Fonts Developer API:

By default, a combination of static fonts files are returned for variable fonts instantiated at standard positions. If capaibility=VF is set, The variable font file is returned instead of static ones along with the available axes range metadata. sample example: https://www.googleapis.com/webfonts/v1/webfonts?capaibility=VF

Hello @darrian, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
And thank you for pointing this out, the variable font version will be included in the upcoming update, please bear with us until then:)
Thank you again,

hy there yuriy, it seems that variable fonts auto-activation still doesn’t work properly when static and variable fonts are present, also it seems that when a variable font family (one regular and one italic) is present, it always activate the italic version even if it’s not the font used

Thank you @deepinart
Will investigate this.

Thank you again,
Yuriy
