MAC OS Tahoe 26.5.1
Mac Studio M1 Pro
FontBase 2026.5.23
Illustrator 2026 (30.6)
Awesome licence
When we open a file in Illustrator we have a popup saying font “x” is missing, another font will replace it. However behind the scene FontBase auto-activate it. Sadly it’s not until we close and reopen the file that the error popup disappear and texts are fixed to the correct font. It’s very difficult to work like this …
Hello @ChrDelMG, thank you for your post
I think other users have encountered a similar issue in the past. For now it looks like the cause is somewhere within Illustrator itself and how it caches/deals with fonts available in the system. Have you had any luck in contacting Adobe support regarding this?
Hello,
It seems like I won’t get any answer from Adobe other than they don’t do support for thirdparty plugins.
Do you have any clue on what could be the issue ?
Thank you for the quick reply
The issue is most likely related to how and when Illustrator scans the system for available fonts, i.e. when it’s already up and running it won’t scan for new fonts unless restarted. If this is indeed the case, then it seems there is nothing on our end we can do to change this at the moment.
Thank you for the quick reply
Just researched this issue a bit deeper and had a look at FEX as well. Did its auto-activation work as expected with Adobe Illustrator?
There surely will be continued updates to FontBase to remedy any existing issues, including those with auto-activation. Unfortunately at this time I cannot confirm the timeline on when this specific one will be resolved
Hi,
Yes it works without any hassle for FEX but it was for a few versions of AI back because there’s no support for it nowadays.
Hopefully this will be the case with the next versions of FontBase
