Is it possible to leave only selected fonts enabled in Google Fonts?

Google Fonts is very useful, but it has fonts that have several variations (MANY, like Noto or Playwrite for example) that are not in the same family, so you have to disable them one by one. Or even fonts that, because they are very decorative, cause slight crashes in the preview. Would it be possible to keep Google Fonts as a provider, but without activating all fonts automatically, only those that we activate manually?

Not sure what you mean exactly. Google fonts are not active by default. They are only activated when you activate them. Can you elaborate?

I am unable to upload screenshots here in the thread (says: Sorry, there was an error uploading…) to show you better.

But basically, in Providers, in Google Font, it is always enabled with the green dot. And it only shows “show” or “hide” as click options. Regardless of which one I choose, it keeps all fonts active. And if I click again, it activates all the ones I had already deactivated.

I have the latest version (I even had to reinstall it today after the updates). But anyway, Google Fonts is always active by default for me, with no option to disable it.

I couldn’t find any tutorial showing how to disable Google Fonts, hence my question. If there is a tutorial on this, I would be very grateful.

If it has the green dot, it means you have activated all the Google fonts, and they are now active each time you open the app. Click the green dot near the Google title to deactivate them. After that you can select all fonts with Ctrl+A and right click them and remove from disk. After that you will be able to hide them.

In FontBase Google Fonts stays active if you enabled all fonts

  1. click green dot to deactivate all
  2. remove fonts from disk
  3. then hide them

after that only enable fonts you want manually
