Hello,
I recently had to have Windows 11 reinstalled so I’ve been reinstalling all of my other programs since and have encountered a problem. When I opened Fontbase, I found all of my Collections were deleted with the OS reinstall and I really need to get them back. I did perform regular backups with a program called ‘Backup4all’ so I’m pretty sure I have the file I need saved in there somewhere, but I need some help with the following…
-
What specific file would that be?
-
Where exactly can I find it in the backups?
-
What do I need to do with the file to get my collections back into my current Fontbase program?
- My operating system: Windows 11 pro
- Operating system version: 25H2
- FontBase version: 2026.4.1
- What actions caused the issue: Operating system reinstall
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Not sure how exactly Backup4all works, but if it stores the local app data folders, there should be a FontBase folder somewhere and an IndexedDB folder inside of it. If there is, you should be able to replace your current IndexedDB folder with the backed up one. The path is c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\FontBase\IndexedDB

Thank you for responding! I found what I think is the right folder in my backup files. In the file tree, it goes…
E:\New Backup\149_C.zip\Users(My old user name)\AppData\Roaming\FontBase\IndexedDB\file__0.indexeddb.blob\1\6b
The thing is that there doesn’t seem to be any files in this path. Just folders within folders. So what would this do if I copied it into the C drive Fontbase location?
Also when I made this backup, I did so using a different account on my computer under a different user name. Since the reinstallation I now only have 1 account which is how I prefer it. I didn’t think this would cause any sort of problem, should it?
Also, in my current C drive, the path I have to the program is…
C:\Users\Admin\FontBase.fontbase
or
C:\Users\Admin\FontBase\Providers
That seems to be it, so I don’t see a new location for the Collections file to be moved to. Granted, I haven’t created any new collections since the reinstall so as to avoid confusion, but I thought an empty folder would have been made automatically. Have I missed something?
Not sure if I understood correctly - there is now no c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\FontBase folder with the current installation?
That is correct. There are only these folder paths…
C:\Users\Admin\FontBase.fontbase
or
C:\Users\Admin\FontBase\Providers
These seem to be the only Fontbase folders in my C drive after I reinstalled Fontbase. Also, when I made my early backup, I did so under a USERNAME account, but since the OS reinstall, that account has been deleted as unnecessary and now there’s just the Admin account for my use. My understanding is that this won’t matter, as all I’m trying to do is find a single file or folder and transplant it into the newly reinstalled Fontbase program, correct?
Did you do a full search on your computer for “FontBase”?
