Sidecard UI hierarchy improvements

Hi FontBase Team,

Just wanted to share some feedback on the folder sidebar UI as a designer.

I organise most of my fonts by font family, with subfolders for TTF, OTF and web font versions. I also have some fonts organised by style, such as a main folder for Gothic fonts, followed by individual font families and their respective subfolders.

Currently, the sidebar only displays the arrow to expand a folder when you hover over it. When you’re not hovering, the folders appear quite flat, making it difficult to tell which folders contain subfolders and which ones don’t which makes it hard for a large library as you cant just go over the whole sidecard to see which ones you can or can not extend.

I think it would be really helpful to have an option in the settings to always display a small expand/collapse arrow in front of folders that contain subfolders, rather than only showing it on hover.

I’m coming from Extensis Connect, which had a similar folder navigation system. It was easy to identify which folders could be expanded because they always had a small arrow in front of them. The subfolders were also slightly indented, creating a much clearer visual hierarchy.

I think adding these two small UI improvements would make navigating larger, more complex font libraries much easier, especially for users who organise their fonts across multiple folder levels.

Ideally, this could be an optional setting for those who prefer the current cleaner sidebar appearance.

Hope this makes sense, and thanks for considering the suggestion!
