I have some fonts showing placeholders only; no characters. If I choose “view family - glyphs or waterfall” they show correctly. OTF and TTF. Work in applications, also. Windows 11
Hello Andy, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum
Do the placeholders show up regardless of the type of text in the preview (bottom line of the main app window)? E.g. do numbers produce the same result as well?
Thank you again,
Hello Yuriy,
Yes, I just checked. All characters act the same.
Thanks
I didn’t realize the font showing in glyphs and waterfall is NOT the font it should be (but it is not placeholders). It was close enough to the one I had selected that I didn’t notice until I tried others. These fonts activate and work correctly in inDesign.
Thank you for the quick reply and the additional info Andy
The most likely cause has something to do with the data inside the font file itself, and it prevents FontBase from rendering it correctly.
Removing the font in question from FontBase, then re-adding might help.
Thank you again,
I’ve tried removing and adding, sometimes works, mostly doesn’t. Tried using freshly acquired versions on some and didn’t work. These are all fonts that preview in Extensis Connect (which I want to get rid of) and work in applications. FontBase is easier to use, but if I can’t sort this out, I can’t use it.
Hello Andy, thank you for your reply and for checking this
Yes, it totally makes sense, usability if of utmost importance.
Sorry for not being able to quickly resolve this and thank you again,
