Something Bad o : After updating to ver 2.24.4 crashes on launch

I am on Mac OS Tahoe 26.1 on a Mac mini M4
upgrade to FontBase 2.24.4 now on launch I get:

uninstalled FontBase deleted ~/Library/Application Support/FontBase
reinstalled from the download link
No change something Bad happened. The restart button does close the app but does not restart. Please help Ive got project to complete and managing these fonts manually is a nightmare.

Everything was working fine.. I think you guys auto updated because there was a FontBase 2.24.4-universal downloaded at a time I would have been asleep tried the above steps with both the FontBase 2.24.4-universal.dmg as well as the one from your website Fontbase-2.24.4.dmg same thing no matter what.
I went ahead and uninstalled both InDesign and Illustrator as I saw there were also plugin folders on my machine for both of those. tried a restart install font base but don’t open it then install InDesign & Illustrator then try and open FontBase this time it did open the app for a split second but then disappeared and Something bad happened pop up again.

I have moved my fonts to a different location on the same hdd. prior to uninstalling and deleting everything. (I know I probably should have kept/renamed those old files but I didn’t and they are deleted.)

This is definitely not normal, will need to investigate which might take some time unfortunately.
In the meantime specific earlier versions can be downloaded from

E.g.
https://releases.fontba.se/mac/FontBase-2.24.0.dmg
If you decide to try this, please go to the Settings page right away and disable auto-update as to not repeat the current situation preventing you from working normally

Could you please also provide the specs for your computer, CPU and video card to aid in the investigation process?

Hi Dominik, really appreciate the help, unfortunately I did uninstall remove everything from ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/Fontbase restarted and then installed this dev build. I have not tried using the link that was provided for previous builds. After the install the app did open for a split second again and then the Something Bad Happened popup. I clicked restart and it appears to just close the app not in the dock anymore but when I look at the activity monitor it appears to still be running: I can provide you screenshots of the app in the dock not showing to be running butActivity monitor showing its running the following processes:

FontBase Helper (GPU)
Fontbase Helper (Renderer)

If there is anything else I can provide please let me know.

Could you also please test this updated dev version https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-PR6Yp2f7SHIIsW-aC6-hEKmNz8Mv5qf/view?usp=drive_link It should provide you with a more detailed error log. Would be great if you could share that too.

Ok uninstalled everything tried this latest download link I don’t get anything now, not the app opening or the Something bad happened screen It shows its running and I see it in the Activity monitor but when I right click on the app in the Dock and click show all windows it minimizes everything and says “No available windows”

Which logs can I provide? The stuff in ..Caches/com.dominiklevitsky.fontbase dont seem to have changed

The logs that show up on the Something bad happened screen. There should be some error text under the title.

Did I understood correctly that now the app is running and you don’t get the screen?

If you don’t get any windows at all, please remove the ~/Library/Application Support/FontBase folder.

I got the same issue as this user, can you please help, I got deadlines and work todo. This one of my worst experiences in a while.

I am just stuck at a white screen saying ‘something bad happened’ restart. But nothing happens. I keep uninstalling and installing different version with no change.

Have you tried installing the latest versions 2.24.9 from our website? Or an earlier version like 2.23.1?

Also have you tried to completely reset the settings as described here https://fontba.se/learn/reset-settings
