Sorting drop-down lists

Sorting of font variants in drop-down lists on Glyphs and Waterfall tabs.
On the left FontBase version 2.13.2 (August 17, 2020) - the latest version in which sorting works by font weight, as in the Styles tab. On the right is version 2.21.0.
Sorting broke over 4 years ago…

Hello @NyBumBum, great catch, thank you

(so as not to create a separate topic)
In version 2.13.2 with working sorting of font variants in drop-down lists, the first font variant in the list was used as the default font (as the font variant on the button when opening the Glyphs or Waterfall tabs). Why not Regular?

Thank you @NyBumBum
The lightest was used as a default to keep with the logic of the list in the first tab of the Family page.
The default Regular was under consideration, however it’s not an ideal solution either, as, e.g. if there is no Regular the list would have to default to the next best font style. “Next best” is highly subjective, so giving the user an ability to set this was also under consideration, but has been postponed for the time being, for performance reasons if I recall correctly.
Good question

P.S. quick update - the sorting has been fixed and will be included in the next update

It was not a practical question, it was a question of aesthetics of the interface of the Glyphs and Waterfall tabs: Regular gives the weight sameness of Glyphs in the Glyphs table, the weight sameness of the waterfall for different fonts. And if Regular is not found, then you can use “first”.

P.S. Great news about the sorting fix. Thanks, @yuriy

Makes sense about the sameness, I see what you mean, yeah.
