Starting FontBase under Linux fails!

Hello,

  • Ubuntu-MATE Linux
  • 24.04
  • FontBase version 2.24.9
  • Starting FontBase-2.24.9-AppImage from anywhere

Staring this file (downloaded from “fontba.se”) outputs

mick:~:[2001]$ FontBase-2.24.9.AppImage
[25244:0122/125001.564978:FATAL:sandbox/linux/suid/client/setuid_sandbox_host.cc:166] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_FontBaTGSFFo/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

How to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

This sounds like a weird problem to me.
I’ve used FontBase on Opensuse 15.4 - 15.6, Xfce; Mint 21.3 Xfce, 22.2-22.3 Cinnamon without any problems.
It’s beyond my imagination that the Mate desktop has anything to do with this problem.
LinuxMint 21++ is Ubuntu-based, so most likely comparable to your situation.
The problem might be related to the way you start the application.
Download FontBase again, but this time to the directory Applications in your home directory. Make it first if you didn’t do so before.

Then:
opstartprompt_FontBase
and see it running !?!
