Text samples only show the letter 'A'

  • OS: Tahoe Apple M3 Max

  • OS Version: 26.6.2

  • FontBase version: 2026.5.23

  • What actions caused the issue:

    • Nothing, started randomly and has been ongoing for months
    • Tried resetting all text sample previews, clearing cache and preferences in Application Support folder
    • It happens every time app is closed and reopened

Hello Koeni, thank you for your post and welcome to the forum :folded_hands:

As of now the default startup preview text being “a” in the grid view is expected behaviour, so there don’t seem to be any bugs in this case. Although I do understand how this might seem like an error of some kind.

Thanks for your reply.

I find it to be kind of a pain – I have to immediately change it to one of my set preview samples each time I open the app while working on projects. An ‘a’ doesn’t allow you to see the features of the font at all.

I wish there was an option to change the default to one of my preview samples.
