i cant create a watched folder - Windows 11-
steps:
- add +
- Watched folder
- selecting the folder from the opened window
- nothing added to the app
Note: i can add normal folders to the app normally, but it’s not updating the new fonts in it

Would it be possible to check if you have provided the required permissions for FontBase to access the folder you’re trying to add?
Also, you are not trying to add the system fonts folder, is that correct?

hey yuriy thx for ur response.
i can add the same folder as a normal folder not a watched folder.
what r the permission that need for the app. and yes i’m not adding the system fonts folder

Definitely read permissions, possibly write (at least to fully use other app functions such as font activation etc.).
Is the folder you’re trying to add on a local or a network drive? Also, does this happen to any font folder, e.g. in different locations, or just a specific one?

Local folder, and its happen in a different location almost any location I tried a local partition and plug hdd disk in different location in both.

Have you perhaps already tried uninstalling and reinstalling FontBase?
Also, one thing I should’ve asked initially - has this been occurring ever since the initial installation or did it start later at some point?

I am new to Fontbase. I am able to add folders from a cloud-based share (sync.com) but am unable to add a watched folder from the same location.

Most likely this has something to do with how the cloud-based service works and how it links the files to the local drive. Watched folders would require an equivalent of Dropbox’s “available offline” flag on the desired folders/files.

If the font folder will be completely available offline in OneDrive, then it should work, yes.

Sorry if I’m hijacking this thread, but I’m having the same issue. FontBase is installed for all users (fresh installation today, as my previous user-only installation got broken somehow.) I am trying to add a local folder (not synced with any service) as a watched folder, but it is not showing up in the folders dropdown after adding it. This happens with any folder I try, even new ones created on two separate drives (both internal storage, one of which is the OS drive.)
Folders I tried adding:
- D:\Resources\Fonts
- C:\Users\[USER]\Fonts (distinct from FontBase folder in the same directory)
- C:\TestFonts
None of them worked. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a suspicion as for the cause, but it needs confirmation. Would it be possible to move the FontBase root folder to the D drive and see if watched folders could be added then?

I copied and pasted my FontBase root folder (C:\Users\[USER]\FontBase) to D:\FontBase, changing it as such in the settings. C:\Users\[USER]\Fonts will now show up in the FontBase interface, but adding D:\Resources\Fonts (I also tried D:\TestFonts on a whim) did not work.
Happy to provide any additional information as necessary.
edit: C:\TestFonts does not work either.

Seems like we narrowed down the cause of this issue, the fix should be arrive with the next update.
