I reported this issue a few months ago without getting a solution yet:
Adding a watched folder does not work at all and never has. Our root directory lies on a server and the watched folder would be on a local drive. However, the watched folder does not even appear in Font Base.

Looks like there are limitations to read/write rights that interfere with this type of setup, unfortunately
